About the Blog

Film is such a prevalent part of our society today. It shows us the world, but it also forms how we see our world. We have to be critical of what we watch to hold film accountable for how it reflects the issues and questions in our world today. This blog is meant to question and analyze films, specifically through the lens of gender and sexuality.

About Me

My name is Ally (she/they), and I’m studying creative writing and LGBT+ studies. For as long as I can remember, my life has been filled with writing and reading. As I got older, film and tv became as integrated as books. Storytelling, in general, is an important part of my life. As a queer person, representation is something that matters greatly to me, and it’s something I critic in every area of my life. Often times matters of sexuality and gender (especially gender outside of male and female) is avoided. It’s a topic that today is still taboo in many circles. It’s my goal to break down some of the taboo surrounding these topics.
